MTG Star Trek: Everything You Need to Know About Magic's November Universes Beyond Set

Magic: The Gathering boldly goes where no set has gone before — the Star Trek Universes Beyond release arrives in November 2026, and here is what UK players need to know ahead of prerelease weekend.

Magic: The Gathering has had a remarkable 2026, moving from the story-concluding Reality Fracture straight into what may be its most ambitious Universes Beyond release yet. The Star Trek set lands in November, and with prerelease weekend almost upon us, it is time to get up to speed.

What Is the Star Trek Set?

The Star Trek release is the fourth and final Universes Beyond set of 2026, following Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Hobbit, and Marvel Super Heroes. Wizards of the Coast is marking the 60th anniversary of Star Trek with this tribute set, celebrating six decades of storytelling across television and film. Prerelease events are scheduled for 6 November 2026, with global release following on 13 November 2026.

The set carries the code TRK and contains 135 cards, accompanied by a 41-card Commander companion set and a one-card Stardates masterpiece series (code SDS). That masterpiece slot alone suggests Wizards is planning something visually spectacular for the set's most iconic moments.

What We Know About the Cards

Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that Captain Kirk, the Enterprise, and Klingons will all make appearances in the set. Given the scope of the Star Trek franchise — spanning The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and beyond — the card-design team has an enormous pool of characters, ships, and locations to draw from.

The Commander companion's 41-card count is notably larger than Reality Fracture's two-card companion, suggesting a more fleshed-out preconstructed experience for Commander players who want to dive straight in on release weekend.

How It Fits Into 2026 as a Whole

The Star Trek set closes out an extraordinary year for Magic. The 2026 schedule has taken players from the Lorwyn-Shadowmoor plane in January, through licensed crossovers with TMNT and Marvel, back to Middle-earth with The Hobbit in August, and into the original-Magic epic of Reality Fracture in October. Star Trek acts as the exclamation mark at the end of that run.

For players who have focused primarily on in-universe Magic sets this year, the Universes Beyond releases — including Star Trek — have a separate collector identity. Cards from these sets are mechanically legal in the formats printed on their packaging, but many collectors treat them as a distinct line. Either way, the Star Trek set is certain to attract attention well beyond Magic's usual audience, given the franchise's global fanbase.

What UK Players Should Do Now

Prerelease events on 6 November are your best opportunity to crack packs before general release and get a feel for the set's mechanics. Check with your local game store now to register — prerelease slots for high-profile Universes Beyond sets tend to fill quickly, and Star Trek's crossover appeal may bring in players who do not attend every prerelease.

Booster boxes, Set Boosters, and Commander companion packs should all be available from UK game stores and online marketplaces from 13 November. If you are planning to pick up singles, waiting a week or two after release typically gives the market time to settle, especially for a set with a dedicated fanbase outside of Magic's core community.

With Reality Fracture barely a fortnight old, it is an exciting time to be a Magic player in the UK — and Star Trek promises to keep that momentum going right through to the end of the year.
