OP-17 The World's Strongest Warriors — UK Release Guide: Dates, Products, and What's Inside

One Piece Card Game's fourth-anniversary set drops on 28 August in English — and for the first time ever, UK collectors are getting it within days of Japan. Here's everything you need to know before it lands.

One Piece Card Game's 17th booster set, The World's Strongest Warriors, is almost here — and it comes with a landmark change for UK collectors. Here is a practical guide to what is dropping, when, and why this release matters beyond the cards themselves.

The Dates

OP-17 releases in Japan on 22 August 2026, with the English wide release — including the UK — set for 28 August 2026. A pre-release window opens on 21 August at participating local game stores. That means UK players are getting the set within six days of Japan, a dramatic compression of the multi-month gap that has been standard since the game launched in 2022.

The reason is a formal policy shift from Bandai. The publisher announced that starting with OP-17, a Global Simultaneous Release would begin — framing it as a permanent change rather than a one-off. In practice, a short regional window remains (Japan on the 22nd, English on the 28th), but the secondary-market arbitrage that once saw Japanese cards trade at a heavy premium for months before English equivalents appeared has effectively ended. For UK buyers, that is genuinely good news: prices at launch should start from a much closer baseline between regions.

What Is in the Set

OP-17 is structured around the Four Emperors (Yonko) and characters from the Elbaf Arc, serving as the game's fourth-anniversary celebration. The set contains 131 + 4 card types, with 14 cards per pack and 24 packs per display box.

The headline rarities to know:

  • Six Leader cards, including a new Shanks (OP17-020), Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, Monkey D. Luffy, and more.
  • Six Special Parallel (SP) cards with the Conqueror's Haki treatment — Roronoa Zoro, Kozuki Oden, Monkey D. Garp, Gol D. Roger, Yamato, and Silvers Rayleigh.
  • Gold Anniversary SP cards featuring the Four Emperors: Shanks, Monkey D. Luffy, Blackbeard, and Buggy. These carry a distinctive gold foil treatment and are the highest-tier chase cards in the set.
  • Super Rare cards featuring Shanks and nine other key characters.
  • Treasure Rares, the new rarity introduced with the 3rd Anniversary set earlier this summer, return here.

The Elbaf Arc content brings new cards for Loki and a giant-clan-armoured Monkey D. Luffy, making this one of the first sets to dig meaningfully into the manga's current story arc.

The Double Pack Set (DP-12)

Alongside the standard booster display, Bandai is releasing a Double Pack Set (DP-12) — eight packs per box at a lower per-pack cost than a full display. This format suits collectors who want to dip in without committing to a full 24-pack box, and it typically includes alternative art and parallel design cards drawn from the main set. Both products share the 28 August release date in English.

What It Means for UK Collectors

The near-simultaneous launch changes the calculus for anyone who previously imported Japanese OP sets early. With English cards arriving just six days after Japan, the cost of waiting for your native-language version is now minimal — and English cards remain the format used at UK local game store events and regional tournaments, so there is little competitive reason to chase Japanese product at import prices.

It is also worth noting that with the arbitrage window gone, early secondary-market prices from the Japanese launch on 22 August will give a much more reliable signal for what to expect in English — watch the Japanese pull rates and chase-card values that emerge in the days before UK release to calibrate your box-buying decisions.

OP-17 is shaping up to be one of the biggest One Piece Card Game releases to date: a fourth-anniversary set, a stacked chase-card line-up, and a new chapter in how Bandai serves its global player base. Mark 28 August in your calendar.
