Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration: All-Foil Packs, a New Rarity, and a Global Simultaneous Launch on 18 September

The Pokémon TCG's landmark anniversary set has been fully revealed — every card in every pack is foil, a brand-new opalescent rarity debuts, and for the first time the set launches worldwide on the same day.

This year marks three decades since the Pokémon Trading Card Game first launched in Japan in October 1996, and The Pokémon Company is marking the milestone in suitably spectacular fashion. The 30th Celebration set was officially revealed on 1 June 2026, and it breaks just about every convention the TCG has followed since day one.

All-Foil Packs and a Brand-New Rarity

The headline feature is exactly what it sounds like: every single card inside a 30th Celebration booster pack carries a foil finish. There are no base non-holo commons or uncommons — every pull has that sheen. Beyond the foil treatment, the set introduces an entirely new rarity tier. Early preview cards show Pikachu, Mewtwo, and Mew rendered in a shimmering, opalescent finish unlike anything currently in the game. The set also includes 30 distinct Pikachu variants — one for each year of the TCG — alongside reprints of iconic nostalgia cards from across the franchise's history.

For collectors who have been waiting for a marquee product to anchor their 2026 binders, this looks like the one. Anniversary sets have historically generated some of the highest demand and resale prices in the hobby, and the combination of all-foil packs and a novel rarity gives 30th Celebration more than one reason to be chased.

A Simultaneous Worldwide Release

Perhaps the most meaningful structural change is how the set will reach shops. 30th Celebration is expected to be one of the first times The Pokémon Company has coordinated a truly global same-day release across both Japanese and English editions. The Japanese launch is set for Wednesday, 16 September 2026 — an unusual midweek date that appears to be a deliberate callback to the 20th Anniversary Evolutions set, which also launched on a Wednesday. The international English release follows two days later on Friday, 18 September 2026.

For UK collectors, that simultaneous launch matters. In past years, Japan-exclusive early access has meant spoilers, market volatility, and a wait of weeks or longer before English product arrived. A near-simultaneous window should keep the playing field considerably more level from day one.

What Else Comes With It

Alongside the main expansion, a 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set featuring Espeon and Umbreon is confirmed to launch on the same date. Pre-built decks built around the beloved Eeveelutions — with spotlight cards expected to feature the new opalescent rarity — are widely anticipated to be among the most sought-after products of the year. The Eeveelutions consistently drive some of the strongest collector demand in the TCG, and a premium anniversary treatment will only amplify that.

Planning Ahead

The 30th Celebration set arrives on 18 September 2026, giving collectors just over three months to budget and prepare. In the meantime, the Mega Evolution era continues: Pitch Black — featuring Mega Darkrai ex — releases on 17 July, with prerelease events running from 4–12 July. After that, Storm Emerald (headlined by Mega Rayquaza ex) is expected in August or September before the anniversary set closes out the year.

With all-foil packs, a new rarity, an iconic Eeveelution premium deck, and the first genuine worldwide simultaneous release in the TCG's history, 30th Celebration looks set to be the defining Pokémon product of 2026. Keep an eye on TCG Listing for UK pre-order availability as retailers open their allocations.
